About Us
At the head of AJ building control design is Adam Spence who started his career at the University of Central Lancashire where he spent 3 years studying his Architectural Technology degree gaining a 2:1 at his graduation in 2011.
After graduation he spent his time finding a job mid recession having success in applying for Trainee Architectural Technologist position which he started in 2011. Spending 2 years at the head design office at Persimmon homes where he learned all the requirements to professionally detail and draw to building control standards as well as assisting the office engineers.
Late in 2013 Adam moved closer to home and took his abilities part time spending 2-3 days a week working for an architect just starting up in the industry “Lynn Palmer Architects“. It is through this working relationship that he spent up to 7 years developing the ability to work remotely and efficiently to high standards which laid the foundation for AJ Building Control Design to come to reality. Within the time spent with Lynn Palmer Architects 2 awards were gained for jobs fully detailed and specified by Adam: “Best Residential Architecture Firm 2017 – Oxfordshire & Best Oxfordshire Remodelling Project: Home Farm, at the 2017 Build Awards” and “Highly Commended award for White Hart Barn, at the AVDC Design Awards“. Both these jobs can be seen on the projects page.
Over the Last 3 years word has spread by mouth, with various other architects in the area showing interest and taking Adam on board to assist with construction packages. This made his decision to take his business full time from part-time with creation of AJ Building Control Design which began operation in November 2020.
